Automated Borders: The Impact of AI on Migration Digitalization: Feminist & Decolonial
Petra Molnar will speak about the impact of Artificial Intelligence and automated technologies on migration control. Molnar will discuss the theses from her current research, which addresses the ethical and legal challenges arising from the use of AI at borders. She will demonstrate how AI-powered systems, such as surveillance drones and automated decision-making systems, can affect the human rights of migrants. One example is the use of AI-powered lie detectors at borders to assess asylum seekers, which are often prone to errors. Molnar will also discuss strategies that can be developed to address these challenges and protect human rights. Petra Molnar is a lawyer and anthropologist specializing in migration, technology, and human rights.
