SPAM! A source of protein during WWII and code for disinformation in our times. The journey of our collective vocabulary is intertwined with historical journeys through space-time. In this workshop, we revisit WWII and worldwide migration patterns, military and civilian, through written personal accounts. We would be looking at both voluntary and involuntary migrations around the world during the time. Participants are encouraged to bring one account from their nation’s/community’s past; be it a letter, diary excerpts or otherwise that talks about migration. Through discussion and interactive exercises, we will investigate the contexts of these narratives, the migratory impact on different societies, the fine prints of language and experiences and the scope of the personal during mass migration.
