Hosts: Tebelelo Lentsoane (South Africa) and Letlhogonolo Mokgoroane (South Africa)

How does the law remember history? Can the law serve as a credible repository of memory? Can law shape justice and prevent future conflicts? This interactive workshop invites you to explore the intersection of law, history of human rights violations and memory through dynamic discussions and interactive sessions. Participants will engage in thought-provoking discussions and participate in innovative “HistoCourt” simulation, where they will examine landmark cases, reimagine and debate their outcomes, and reflect on how legal frameworks document and preserve events. Prepare to critically analyse the role of law in addressing today’s challenges and collaborate on visionary recommendations for the future of justice. Facilitators are two South Africans with intimate insights into their country's history of a legally entrenched apartheid regime and present day legal role in global conflicts.
