histoCON 2025: Call for Applications Apply as a participant until 15 February 2025!
Join us in Berlin from May 5–8, 2025, to explore how World War II continues to shape our world. histoCON brings together young people from around the globe to exchange ideas, discuss different perspectives, and consider how the past influences the present and future.
History is much more than just numbers and dates - it shapes what we experience today and helps determine what our future will look like. Even 80 years after World War II, its impact is still felt in countless ways – how countries interact, how we remember the past, and even in today’s conflicts. But how does this continue to shape our world today?
At histoCON, you have the opportunity to spend three days exchanging ideas with young people from all over the world, explore different perspectives, and dive into important questions like:
• How do different countries tell the story of World War II?
• Which memories shape our understanding, and whose voices might be missing?
• How can looking back at the past help us navigate the future?
It’s all about coming together to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and reimagine how history shapes our world.
histoCON is organised by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) and supported by the German Foreign Office. histoCON’s claim is "Look back, think ahead" – because familiarity and critical engagement with history can help us understand the present and learn for the future.
What’s in store for you?
Three days packed with interactive workshops, thought-provoking discussions and creative projects. It’s a chance to share your perspective, learn from others, and connect with a vibrant international community. You’ll also have time to explore Berlin—a city rich in history and culture that offers the perfect backdrop for new ideas and conversations.
What does it cost?
Your accommodation, if needed, and vegetarian and vegan meals are on us. We’ll support your travel expenses with a travel allowance based on your country of residence. You’ll need to cover the costs upfront, but we’ll reimburse the set amount in cash (in euros) at the end of the event. Keep in mind that the allowance is fixed and doesn’t require receipts, so any additional costs will be up to you.
