Conjuring Afrofutures: A Reality-Build Journey expands future consciousness to create culturally-informed and intersectional futures using the cultural movement Afrofuturism as inspiration. Conjuring Afrofutures Journey is based on the Dinkinesh method. The Dinkinesh method, created by Ingrid LaFleur, theorizes that how an individual imagines the origin point of humanity shapes their future thinking, which determines the direction and the actions they choose. The Dinkinesh method focuses on changing the origin point within the imagination thus infusing afrofuture consciousness into future visions.
LaFleur, your afrofuture guide, has divided the journey into five experiences where participants will be tasked with the mission of creating a reality that weaves together ancestral and elder wisdom with emerging tech and science. The journey introduces participants to the basics of speculative futures research, the possibilities of Afrofuturism in practice, a path for creating culturally-informed futures, and suggestions for integrating afrofuture consciousness into everyday life.
All participants will receive a workbook along with instructions on how to prepare for the workshop.
