Für die Bewertung der Schwere von Störfällen wurde die INES-Skala entwickelt, die von 0 (nicht relevant) bis 7 (schwerster Unfall) reicht. Störfälle mit einem Wert von 1 oder größer wurden in der Ukraine 2014 nicht gemeldet. Der zweite Störfall wurde von der IEAE nicht erfasst. Wir dokumentieren ihn deshalb mit einem kurzen Bericht der internationalen Beobachtermission der OSZE in der Ukraine.

Event during operation of Zaporizhzhya NPP Unit No. 3

On 28 of November 2014 at 19:24 the disconnection of the Unit No. 3 of Zaporizhzhya NPP from power grid occurred. According to the preliminary information the cause of the occurrence was the failure of electrical equipment in the turbine hall.
As of 3rd December 2014 the reactor facility remains in the “cold” shutdown. According to the preliminary evaluation this situation is qualified according to INES scale—“0-deviation (No Safety Significance)”.
There were no negative observations in the work of technological protection, blocking, I&C and equipment. Special investigation commission was established.
Radiation situation at the site of Zaporizhzhya NPP remains within limits of normal operation, physical protection systems operate in normal mode.

As of 3 of December 2014 all 15 power units of Ukrainian NPP are in the design mode. 12 power units are in operation. Unit No. 1 of Zaporizhzhya NPP is under the maintenance from 08.09.2014 till 30.12.2014, Unit No. 1 of Khmelnitsky NPP is under the maintenance from 01.11.2014 till 15.12.2014, Unit No. 3 of Zaporizhzhya NPP is under the maintenance from 28.11.2014 till 05.12.2014. On 29 December the SMM contacted the press office of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) at Enerhodar (205km south-west of Dnipropetrovsk) to follow up on media reports of an incident at the plant. According to the press officer on 28 December at 22.35hrs Unit No.6 of the plant was reconnected to the network after a temporary disconnection. The disconnection of the unit was caused by the automatic activation of the protection system following a technical failure. All six units are currently operating again. The press officer informed the SMM that the background radiation measures 8–12 micro roentgens per hour, which, according to the interlocutor, corresponds to the standard radiation level.
