With her school strike for the climate, sixteen-year-old Swedish student Greta Thunberg started a movement that has spread across Europe. The protests reached a peak on 15 March. Children and youths across the globe took part in demonstrations calling on politicians to do more to prevent global warming.
These young people have garnered much praise for their commitment in the press, and some politicians are also joining in. But criticism has also been voiced: the question of whether students should be allowed to miss school for the protests is a matter of fierce debate.

So are the Fridays for Future protests also making an impact in the campaign for the European elections? We put this question to our correspondents in Belgium, France, Germany and Sweden and they told us how they see the situation in their country.
