Auschwitz today: Wiesława Borysiewicz
Photographer Martin Blume has been working on the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp for more than four years. During this time he has encountered numerous survivors. In talking to them, he uses his photographs to trigger their memories.
Inhalt
Wiesława Borysiewicz (born 31 July 1929 in Warsaw) and her parents, sisters and brother were abducted from their family home in Warsaw by SS guards with dogs on 6 August 1944. They were taken to the city’s western freight depot, and from there to the transit camp Pruszków, where thousands of fellow Varsovians were waiting to be transported onward. The family spent 48 hours in this open-air camp before being deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in cattle cars.
